Effective R-ALA

The main ingredient in Glucophase XR is K-R-Ala, a form of Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA), which is also known as the "ideal antioxidant". R-ALA is one of the most potent, free radical scavengers known to man. It serves to protect cell membranes by boosting and recycling inactive antioxidants into active antioxidants. This antioxidant activation boosts the free radical fighting action of popular antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E, and NAC. What Are The Problems With ALA/R-ALA?

ALA is comprised of two enantiomers, S and R. The S part is useless since it has been found to discourage ATP production within muscle tissue. The R part provides all of the beneficial factors, including an increase in ATP production, lowering oxidative stress, enhancing metabolic activity and cellular metabolism. Unfortunately, the R form is extremely sensitive and becomes completely unstable and therefore, useless, when there are even the smallest changes in light, air, moisture, and temperature. These simple changes cause it to decay and polymerize into a sticky, rubbery, or glue like substance which is provides no benefit within the human body. R-ALA is so unstable that is imperative that it is shipped in dry ice and stored in a cool and dry place at all times. This instability is why R-ALA is orally inactive. Yet another downfall of R-ALA is its waxy make up that is capable to trapping high amounts of residual toxic chemicals and waste from manufacturing, including the carcinogenic solvents dichloromethane, ethylene dichloride, MTBE, acetonitrile, cyclohexane, toluene, methanol and ethyl acetate.

Glucophase XR uses K-R-ALA. With the addition Potassium (K), the R-ALA becomes stable even in the most extreme temperatures. Stabilizing it prevents decay and polymerizing into a useless substance.
